Someone I missed out!

A shot of Rhys in my AS opening sequence
I have missed out mentioning a valuable addition to my cast list! This is Rhys. He was the main character in my AS opening sequence, but this year he is playing a much less main (but still vital!) character. Rhys is playing Ed's "hand double!". In my short film, Ed's character has a hobby of art/sketching, which is shown through the cinematography of him drawing and rubbing out "scenes". However, lets just say drawing is not Edwards forte, and this is where Rhys comes in! Rhys achieved an "A*" at GCSE art, is predicted an "A" in A-level art and is currently applying to go to university to study Graphic Design - so I am hoping he will live up to his grades! Instead of Edward drawing the pictures, all the shots of the character sketching will actually be Rhys (well, his hand). This shouldn't be an issue continuity-wise as the only shots of the character sketching are literally just of the hand - this, of course, will cut back to Edwards facial expression, so it's simple enough really. One problem I could potentially face is the fact that Ed and Rhys have completely different skin tones and I don't want it to seem obvious to the audience that "Ed's hand" is in fact someone else's.  However  I am hoping that experimenting with the lighting may help - if I look back on the footage to see a noticeable difference, I will have to re-think my strategy.

What I will need of Rhys:

  • A drawing of the first shot of the first memory
  • A drawing of the last shot of the first memory
  • A drawing of the first shot of the second memory
  • A drawing of the last shot of the second memory
  • A drawing of the first shot of the third memory
  • A drawing of the last shot of the third memory
  • The rubbing out of the last shot of the third memory
  • The drawing of the first shot of the "wished" ending
  • The drawing of the last shot of the "wished" ending
Whilst Rhys is drawing these shots I will be filming. This all will then be sped up when I begin editing so that it does not take up too much of my limited 5 minute duration.
