Peer Assessment - First Edit

In my Media Studies lesson today a Peer Assessment took place, meaning that two others in my class evaluated my first edit. As I have been busy with my film poster recently, I have not completed much of my 'big to do list', so a lot of what was said were repeats of what had been suggest by others before, or what I did not have enough time to complete before exporting my first edit. However, there were a few different points that were brought up. My two peers were given the option to comment on four different areas - Cinematography, Mise-en-scene, Editing and Sound, although as I don't have any sound/music yet, this was not commented on on this occasion:

Cinematography:
+ "Good shot variety"
+ "I like the first person shots after they're washing up"
+ "I love the shots of the sketching hand"
+ "I really like the close-ups of the rubber and printer"
+ "Love the use of panning shots (e.g. on the sofa)"

-  "The girl takes quite a while to leave the park, maybe it should be faded?"
I agree, this is something I was planning to change. I am also in the process of working out whether to use cross dissolves of fades when each scene begins and ends - but I will definitely be experimenting whilst I continue to edit.
- "On one of the sketched shots the hands jump and fade from positions, is this a mistake?"
Yes, I am not quite sure what happened here, I think it is something to do with time-lapsing at too fast a speed. This is something I was planning to review and understand in further detail.

Mise-en-scene:
+ "The locations are genre appropriate, such as the park"
+ "Brilliant picnic props"

- "I think to second sketch of the photo needs to be redrawn as it doesn't look too much like her"
I agree, and this was on my to-do list. I have now successfully had this shot redrawn and have re-filmed the process

Editing:
+ "Good continuity with the frisbee"
+ "A good pace throughout"
+ "I like the sped up drawing shots, really effective"

- "The long hug at the end seems a bit awkward, this could be cut down"
This is a good point, I will definitely experiment with cutting down the shots when I continue editing
- "Could fade between sketch shots and reality"
I agree, previously I stated that I would most definitely experiment with cross dissolves and fades to see what suits best- it is quite difficult to know what looks the best until you have a little play around
