Tagline: "Creativity can solve anything"
Genre: Documentary
Although not in my genre of film, this post caught my eye. Obviously, I liked the use of sketching, but also the way the pencil is used as part of the sketch. This is a really original and unconventional poster and I think it works really well.
Apart from the billing block, website and title of the film, everything else (tagline, main image and awards) is made to look like part of the paper. The background is a lined notebook which reinforces this idea also.
Use of black and white
The poster is mainly in black and white (and grey), apart from the bright yellow pencil, which I feel reinforces the significance of it on the theme of creativity. The pencil is presented as a rocket, which is another meaningful image suggesting the force of creativity (the theme). This could work well in my idea, although I would be reinforcing the love/heartbreak theme.
Originality
Apart from the billing block, website and title of the film, everything else (tagline, main image and awards) is made to look like part of the paper. The background is a lined notebook which reinforces this idea also. This is unlike any other posters I have seen, as although the main image isn't very detailed and doesn't "say much", the background is used as part of the iconography. Font
The font is a mixutre of sans serif (ART, COPY) and serif (&). I like this prospect as it means the title is easily readable, but the "&" correlates with the idea of creativity. Something like this could work well in my poster - I want to reinforce the aspect of creativity (the sketching) but also make sure fonts are clear and bold.
